Funding for our programs and services come
from donations, grants, fundraisers, and fees from Memberships and some of our activities and events. Although
we continue to create new opportunities based on current needs, we now offer the following:
E.S.O. Program: Educational
and/or social opportunities are offered to those with I/DD, their families, and other Arc supporters. They
provide participants the opportunity to increase their self-esteem and raise their self-image; utilize and practice social
skills; improve physical health and large motor skills; stimulate their creativity and utilize small motor skills; see
old friends and make new ones - just to name a few! Opportunities vary from holiday parties with
crafts, to Bingo, to Exercise Nights. Many other events and activities are planned throughout the year. And all
of these are offered in an accepting, more relaxed environment!
Inclusion and Awareness: Through
training open to the community, awareness raising events, presentations to agencies, organizations, and other groups, and
posting information through media and technology, we are dedicated to ensuring those with I/DD are able to live as they choose
in our community. We want to help knock down any inclusion barriers and make sure those with I/DD are respected as full
community members here in Cowley County!
Community Resources: We provide
a variety of resources for our community. If you have a question or need information on a certain topic or want to find
out more about other local services or assistance, we are here to help. We also provide information and resources through
our newsletter, contact lists, website, and other media sources. In addition, we have Resource
Rooms available for those with I/DD and their families, free of charge. Open on Wednesdays from 1 - 4
pm, they have access to a computer, printer, and other equipment to assist them in tasks such as applying
for other services or programs, look for employment or to work on their resume. Staff is available to assist if needed. We
also provide our Community Room which has a fully equipped kitchen and is handicap
accessible. For Non-Profits there is no scheduled fee, though a suggested donation of $20.00 would be kindly accepted. For
all others, it is available for $50.00 plus a $30.00 deposit, due when room is reserved. Deposit will be refunded provided
all guidelines are followed. Availability is on a first come, first serve basis. For more information,
look under the "About Us" tab!
Family Support: We provide
support directly to the families of those with I/DD through advocacy efforts, referrals, providing information, use of Resource
Rooms, trainings, our Autism Parent Support Group, and our Sibshop
Program; an innovative program offered to siblings of those with I/DD. They help brothers and sisters
understand the needs of their disabled sibling, and provide support for them to express their feelings in a lively, recreational
environment! To learn more about Sibshops, look under the "Upcoming Events" tab, or contact our office.
Targeted Case Management:
The Arc offers Targeted Case Management for those eligible for the HCBS MR/DD Waiver. Our Case Managers
are available to assist those eligible, and their support teams, to identify, select, obtain, and coordinate available resources
and natural supports.
